I was always the one giving more, forgiving more, understanding more. I made excuses when others would walk away.

I thought if I just held on tighter, it would be enough... That I would be enough.
MY HEART WAS gripped BY A VICE, AFRAID HE WOULD abandon ME.

I had put him up so high that I lost sight of everything else.

WHEN HE WAS cold OR critical, I MADE excuses AND blamed myself. IT HAD TO BE BECAUSE I wasn't good enough, pretty enough, smart enough FOR HIM TO LOVE ME.

THE fear OF HIM LEAVING PARALYZED ME. I WAS AFRAID TO freely be myself OR stand up FOR WHAT I WANTED. I TOLD MYSELF AS LONG AS HE STAYED, I WOULD be happy.

But I wasn’t. And the longer that I lived in the fear and the lies, the more detached I became from who I really am.

Then one day it hit me like a lightning bolt – this cycle of fear and people-pleasing wasn't just about him! I saw how that painful pattern was woven through all my closest bonds.


With friends, I let myself be treated poorly, afraid to speak up. At the office, I worked myself ragged hoping to prove my worth. Even family made me nervous to fully be myself.


It was as if I moved through life bracing for rejection - so I twisted myself to fit everyone else's needs. My sense of self faded. Suddenly, it clicked.

THE REAL issue WASN'T THE FRIENDS, BOYFRIEND OR FAMILY. IT WAS THIS CYCLE trapping ME FROM THE inside.

That revelation marked a turning point for me. With time and courage, I began to nurture my neglected femininity. I practiced valuing my voice, my needs - tiny steps at first, stumbling but determined.


As I learned to honor my whole self with compassion, healthier bonds began to blossom in every direction.

 

That was the beginning of a journey back home to myself. And what a lovely homecoming it has been.

I stopped analyzing his every word and action. I invested my care into lifting myself up instead of worrying what others thought. And I started building connections rooted in mutual care.

I SAID GOODBYE TO FEARING ABANDONMENT AND PROMISED MYSELF I WOULD NEVER AGAIN MAKE MYSELF SMALLER TO KEEP ANYONE'S AFFECTION.
